ABSTRACT:

The present article deals with the pyrolysis of Finnish milled peat in the fluidized bed combustion temperature range in a developed laminar flow reactor. The pyrolysis of milled peat is studied with different residence times in the reactor and a straightforward method for determining the kinetic parameters from measured data is presented. Based on the experimental results, the kinetic parameters for Finnish milled peat were calculated using a two-competing-reactions model. Drag coefficient of the peat and some important properties of the developed reactor were identified using optical measurements.
