In 1999, the International Flame Research Foundation established an electronic Journal on industrial combustion under the guidance of the Founding Editor in Chief, Professor Terry Wall, and his team at the University of New South Wales, Newcastle, NSW, Australia.

At the end of September 2002, the Editorial Office was transferred to the CANMET Energy Technology Centre based in Ottawa, Canada, at which time Pat Hughes took over the task of Editor in Chief.

To view the articles and the other papers published so far, see "New Papers" page.

The Journal has the advantage over conventional combustion literature in that the papers are made available to a much wider audience with a much faster turn-around time. The Journal has been successfully established as a reference for up-to-date combustion technology.

The Editorial Board defines policy. The day-to-day management is the task of the Executive.

The prime objective of the Journal is to further the application of scientific principles in stationary combustion technologies, for large scale industrial heating processes, leading to clean and efficient fuel conversion.

Papers detailing experimental and technical investigations will continue to be published in the public domain on this Web Site following rigorous review.

The 'IFRF family' and it's extended network is encouraged to participate by providing and reviewing papers through lively participation in the discussion groups.

Manuscript layout guidelines for potential authors and procedures for refereeing of proposed manuscripts are defined. The mode of presentation of the accepted papers is on-line. In addition, there is the possibility to print out the papers using the reader’s facilities for archiving purposes. Full information and details of procedures are given in the links provided in the menu on the left-hand panel.

We will continue to inform readers whenever a new article or short communication is published. We use our publication The Monday Night Mail to do this. You can receive the e-mail edition of The Monday Night Mail  directly in your e-mail inbox. All Members automatically receive the MNM by e-mail. If you are not a member but wish to be kept up-to-date with respect to the new items in the IFRF Open publications, please go to the subscription page.

You are invited to propose a paper covering your recent R&D work relating to industrial combustion, for publication in this Journal.

It is my pleasure to re-issue this invitation to the international combustion community on behalf of the Editorial Board.
